Many thousands will watch a display by the TIGERS, amongst
the spectators will be the children who will ask mum or dad “Can
I have a motor bike?” Should the answer be yes, the parent
usually has three options.
- Purchase a trial motorcycle and join a club for trialing.
- Purchase a scramble bike and go scrambling.
- Join a club similar to the Tigers.
Whatever the choice it is vital the child gets some sort of
tuition. It is no use believing that because a child is good
on a B.M.X. bike that they can progress to a motorcycle. In
Fact, a motorcycle in the wrong hands can prove lethal not
only to the rider but to those around him/her and that goes
for any age group whether it be 6 or 60. The Tigers have never
had to advertise for its riders. This years riders are children
in and around the Portsmouth and Southampton areas who have
seen a display and express a wish to join the Tigers. They
train from the beginning of January to Easter on tarmac and
on grass every Sunday in Gosport, come rain or shine. They then display from May until September. Most
stay with the club for many years before leaving to follow
their interest in motorcycling, but always with a good degree
of competence and bike sense.
